PilPod Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 2026PilPod ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a browser extension designed to help you manage YouTube and YouTube Music media across your browser tabs.
We built PilPod with a strict local-first, zero-telemetry philosophy. We believe that what you watch, listen to, and browse is your business alone. This Privacy Policy explains exactly how PilPod handles your data (or rather, how it doesn't).
1. Information We Collect
We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal data.
PilPod does not use any remote servers, analytics SDKs, crash reporters, or third-party trackers. Absolutely zero data leaves your browser.
2. How We Use Your Data Locally
To function correctly, PilPod requires access to certain browser APIs. All data accessed by these APIs is processed strictly locally on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.
Here is exactly why we request certain permissions and how they are used:
tabs&windows: We use these permissions to build a local registry of your open tabs so that PilPod can display a list of your YouTube and YouTube Music tabs, pause/play them, and prevent Chrome from aggressively discarding them (Auto-Discard Protection).scripting&activeTab: We use these to inject tiny scripts into your active YouTube and YouTube Music tabs. These scripts allow PilPod to securely simulate keyboard events (like volume up/down or spacebar to pause) without breaking the website's native functionality.storage: We use Chrome's local Session Storage (chrome.storage.session) to temporarily remember your preferred volume settings and media states while your browser is open. This data is kept strictly on your device and clears naturally.
3. Third-Party Services
PilPod does not integrate with any third-party advertising networks, analytics providers (like Google Analytics), or external tracking services.
4. Changes to this Policy
If we ever decide to change the core architecture of PilPod in a way that affects your privacy (which we do not intend to do), we will update this policy and highlight the changes in our release notes.
